Finally! Easy Graphic Design For Mere Mortals!

Canva is an easy graphic design software suite with which I am now well acquainted and I would like to take this opportunity to give you my honest opinion about its highs and lows, its strong points and its weak ones. In other words, I would like to review it for your benefit, so that you may then be able to make an informed decision about whether or not to get into it.

Going online and searching for Canva you will note that many bloggers are giving it great reviews while some are only being marginally iffy. I personally am viewing it for what it is — a very useful service, the first of its kind online graphics tool that is far from being perfect. However, please keep in mind that nothing is ever perfect because perfection is just an illusion. http://blog.canva.com/

I will now begin my review by pointing out the basic functionality of Canva and I must first impress upon you that it’s very user friendly and super easy to use. Trust me. If I can use it successfully, so can you and anyone else.

Terrific Canva Graphic Designs

Partnering or collaborating with top graphic designers and the world’s best illustrators as well as talented photographers, Canva can easily provide its users with terrific designs that will be suitable for any occasion and certainly for any niche market. With their great selection of terrific templates from which to choose, with their wonderful layouts and with their most effective mockups; Canva can be at your fingertips in no time at all. Thus, using Canva will give you access to a widely varied world of artistic possibilities.

This is how it works ….

You first need to join Canva and then you need to choose your preferred design from their very good looking pre-designed options that include:

- Blog Graphic
- Facebook
- Document
- Card

Begin by Selecting a Layout or Background

Effective Canva Layouts

On the left sidebar of the Canva.com web page you will see their “Layout” icon that will lead you to the various options. Click on that icon and choose the layout that you like best. Please note that you can, of course, always use their highly effective and very attractive pre-set layouts but you can also make as many changes to them as you see fit by deleting and/or adding as much or as little as you want. http://blog.canva.com/

Eye Catching Canva Images

Once again, on the left sidebar of the Canva site you will find a clickable button labeled “Upload.” Clicking on this button will give you the option of uploading your own images, graphics, photos, etc., but these must be found on your computer’s hard drive.

There is nothing special about having the option of uploading your own images because all the other online photo editing websites allow that. Unlike the others, however, Canva provides its users the convenient option of buying stock images and/or photos right from their own program.

Just click on “Search” and an extensive list of categories will be made available to you. Selecting any one of these categories will result in the appearance of a wide range of relevant images. You can also type a keyword or a keyword phrase in the website’s search window and an impressive array of images will come up. Whichever images you decide to use, you will be charged just $1. This, by the way, is a real bargain.

Canva Frames and Fonts

Working with Canva will give you access to a large library of frames and a huge stock of fonts. All you will need to do is choose your favorites and enjoy.

Quick and Easy Canva Editing

What makes the Canva system so quick and easy is the fact that every design element here is editable. All you would need to do is click on any of the graphic elements and a pop-up window appears to provide you with an array of editing options that are totally and completely self-explanatory.

Save with Canva

On the upper right side of the Canva page you will see a teal colored button that’s labeled “Link & Publish.” Clicking on it will give you the option of choosing a .png image file or a PDF file. Here is also where you will be able to pay for any images you purchased because it will lead you to the checkout.

So, do I then recommend Canva for everyone?

It really depends. If you are a good graphic designer and if you have easy access to terrific images and/or photographs and you have a good graphic design program with which to work, you will not need Canva. However, if you have a good eye for graphics and graphic design but don’t have the skills to implement it, and if you know what you want but don’t know how to create it; then Canva will end up being your favorite resource. And then if you occasionally have the need to create or edit images, you will appreciate the fact that Canva is a whole lot easier than many programs out there, including the ever popular Photoshop.

Have you used Canva? Or are you excited to try?

I use Canva occassionally. Especially when I do not have the time or knowledge to figure out how to do something in photoshop. Much more fun too!

    Hello Brian,

I was a student of your Kindle Ritual program. It is two months later and I am wondering; “Could it be that marketing is not for everyone?”

I’m not stupid, but I just don’t “get” marketing. I am an author and freelance writer, and I love that end of the book business, but the promoting and marketing just does not click with me and as such, book sales are painfully low, which means, no one reads the words that struggled so to get out and onto the page. That is the part that is sad to me.

    Any advice?

Peace to you and thank you for all you do,

Thanks for the comment and reaching out. You mention that you’re an author
and writer and that’s wonderful. You have skills and are willing to do what most
      are not.

Write, however without sound marketing behind your books, articles and what
not few people will read find and buy you’re materials.

Do I have advice for you?

Absolutely, if you want more people to buy your books then
begin to TRY to get better at marketing. You say that perhaps
marketing is not for everyone and that is certainly correct.

However, if you want reader … then market.
If you want more book sales, then apply my strategies and tactics.

If you tell yourself you will get poor results because your not a marketer, then you will.
if you tell yourself however that you will focus on learn what it takes to sell more books
you will begin to open the door of possibility.

I would encourage you to pick up my book: Azon Best Seller if you
have not already done so. Azon takes the strategies and tactics of Kindle Ritual
and breaks them down in 6 simple steps.

I purchased your book Trust Funnel. I wish I would have met you sooner. I love your book and I’m finally learning what to do. I could have saved a lot of money and tears.
You have no hype; just the real you, I’m sure.

I’ll tell you up front that I’m a Senior and I am going to be 80 in May. I don’t look it, I love to learn, I’m just not real technical. If it’s going to be it’s up to me and I won’t give up until I can say, by “dang I did it!”
