Facebook Timeline Graphic Sizes & Branding

Share:

Branding plays a critical role when it comes to internet marketing, anything you can do to separate yourself from your competitors is helpful, that begins with a solid concept and strategy followed by the graphical look and feel of your brand. Having brand unity across your website, Facebook Timeline page, Twitter, Google+ and other social media properties can bring clarity to what you do and what your brand offers.

If your just getting started it really makes sense to focus your efforts across your website and Facebook first, after-all, your website should be where people land last. Think of your site as the hub and Facebook is the 900 pound social media Gorilla in the room, it has the users and powerful advertising system that allows you to target demographics like no other site online and the clicks can be dirt cheap.

Facebook Timeline Graphic No-No’s

However, before you can jump in it makes sense to create a fantastic Facebook Timeline page that again, conveys what you offer and or do. Visitors to your Facebook page should “get it” within seconds of landing on your page. It also important that you can’t use overly promotional wording in your timeline cover image, forget wording such as:

  • Like This Page!
  • Connect With Us!
  • Save Big!
  • Discount Pricing

Furthermore, you can not include your website address in the cover image either, so before you spend the time and possibly money to have graphics created, make sure your within the Facebook timeline rules. Once you have a solid concept in mind for your timeline, you will want to have your ideas fleshed out graphically, below I have included the graphic sizes that you will need:

Facebook Timeline Cover: 851 x 315

Facebook Timeline Profile Image: 180 x 180

Facebook Ad Image: 110 x 80 (aspect ratio of 4:3 or 16:9

Factor Into Your Design:

Remember that your profile image will overlap the cover image, that should be taken into account when creating both images and over all design.
